About ISSH

The International School of Schaffhausen offers an education to students between the ages of 3 and 16 years. ISSH is a private, non-profit institution owned by the International School of Schaffhausen Foundation. It was founded in 1999 to serve the needs of the local international community. It is governed by a Board of Governors elected by the ISSH Foundation. The school is accredited by the IB – International Baccalaureate (www.ibo.org) and is offering the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) and the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP). The final two years that lead to university entrance world-wide will be implemented in the near future.

The school is situated in Schaffhausen, 3 km from the main station. It is accessible by public transport and by road from Schaffhausen centre and from the motorway coming from Singen or Winterthur. An ISSH shuttle bus runs between the main station and the school in the morning and at hometime.

The ISSH student body is multicultural with students from over 25 different national backgrounds. The faculty is similarly diversified with qualified professionals who have at least a bachelors degree and/or a home country teaching certificate. Many also have advanced degrees.

Although the language of instruction is English, the German language is taught throughout the school. Students for whom English is a second language receive special tuition on a one-on-one or in small groups. French is a third language that is offered from age 10 throughout the school.

Application is possible all year around, providing places are available. The school welcomes visits by interested parents. For further information, to apply for admission or to make an appointment to visit the school, please contact the office at info@issh.ch or ++41 52 624 17 07.
