Family Hub – A place for parents and their children

The children laugh and play, let off steam. The parents enjoy a cup of coffee together and exchange ideas in peace, knowing that the children are in a safe and stimulating environment. This is the Family Hub of the International School of Schaffhausen. Cathrine Taylor founded and runs the Family Hub with its childcare services. The idea behind the Family Hub and what parents can expect from it, Cathrine explains in our interview.

What was the motivation behind the creation of the Family Hub?

When my son was born in September 2017, I realised how important it was to have the opportunity to meet and socialise with other parents and their children, for both myself and my son. I also realised the importance of having a safe and stimulating environment for my son and a place away from home that we could visit. When I began to look for something in Schaffhausen, I found that the choices were very limited. After contacting other parents who were thinking the same, I created the International Playgroup at the International School of Schaffhausen. Over the course of a year, we gained 15 regular members and so we began to think about how to expand. This is when the idea for the Family Hub was created.
