Real-World Learning in Action: Grade 3’s Market Day & Visit to Lebenshof TierMensch

As part of their PYP Unit of Inquiry, our Grade 3 students recently turned learning into meaningful action. Their goal? To raise funds for Lebenshof TierMensch, an animal sanctuary that provides a safe home for rescued farm animals.

Their inquiry began by learning about communities, businesses, and responsibility, which then transformed into a real-world experience. Students developed business plans, created their own stalls, and brought their ideas to life with energy and purpose. From fresh lemonade and homemade breads to second-hand toys and even a student-produced film, the stalls reflected their creativity, compassion, and entrepreneurial spirit.

Market Day was a huge success, raising CHF 951.20, but what made this unit truly powerful was what came next. Last week, our students visited the sanctuary to personally hand over their donation, meet the animals they worked so hard to support, and see their impact up close. From petting pigs and feeding goats to learning about animal welfare, the visit deepened their connection to the cause and brought their inquiry full circle.

This experience is a beautiful example of what the PYP is all about: real-life learning that inspires action, empathy, and reflection. We are proud of our Grade 3 changemakers and the difference they made, together.

More Than Just a Show: A Celebration of Teamwork and Talent

This year’s production was so much more than what happened under the spotlight. It was the result of months of dedication, creativity, and collaboration across the entire school.

Since January, our main cast worked hard to develop the story and refine the script, while the chorus and backstage crew brought energy, colour, and seamless support to every scene. Behind every moment on stage was a whirlwind of rehearsals, choreography sessions, and a shared determination to make each performance better than the last.

For our youngest performers in the Early Learning Centre, it was a season of exciting firsts, learning lines, singing in harmony, stepping into the stage lights, and experiencing the thrill of performing for a live audience.

But what made this production truly special was the spirit behind it. It was about coming together as a school community, supporting one another, stepping up, and shining together. Whether centre stage or behind the scenes, every student played a vital role in bringing this story to life.

We loved sharing the magic with you and hope you enjoyed the show!
