Learning in Action, June 2025: Step into Global Thinking at the MUN conference!

Voices in Action: Highlights from ISSH’s Inspiring MUN Conference

ISSH buzzed with enthusiasm and global awareness during our recent internal Model United Nations (MUN) conference, organised by our dedicated MUN Club students for Grades 6 through 10.

Centred around critical global topics, this year’s conference encouraged participants to think deeply, speak confidently, and engage meaningfully with complex issues. Grade 6 students explored the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), researching challenges such as climate change, poverty, and quality education, while strengthening their presentation and teamwork skills. Grades 7 and 8 delved into cybersecurity, examining digital safety, ethics, and the broader societal impact of technology. Meanwhile, Grades 9 and 10 engaged in a nuanced historical inquiry into World War II, debating alternative outcomes and emphasising diplomacy and conflict resolution.

A heartfelt thank you to our hardworking MUN Club and guest speaker, whose insights enriched the discussions.

This year’s conference was also enhanced by collaboration with delegates from Hull’s School Zurich. Together, students practised negotiation and compromise, passing well-considered resolutions despite occasional challenges such as procedural questions and time constraints. It was inspiring to witness how delegates supported one another and grew throughout the event.

On behalf of the MUN team, we extend our gratitude to all teachers, students, and our guest school for their dedication. MUN 2025 was a vibrant celebration of youth engagement, global citizenship, and the importance of dialogue, reminding us that meaningful change often begins with conversation.
