Our new staff members are excited to join the ISSH community and would like to introduce themselves! Each of them brings unique experiences, passions, and perspectives, and together they add fresh energy to our school.
Early Learning Centre
My name is Shih-Yen Lee, and I’m originally from Taiwan. I have over 20 years of experience working with children, and it continues to be the most rewarding part of my life. Working with young children is a journey filled with joy and surprises. No two days are ever the same, because every child brings their own unique personality and perspective.
Unlike many other professions, early childhood educators experience – every single day – what it means to trust and be trusted, to love and be loved, to observe and be observed, to respect and be respected. In walking alongside children through their early years, I find myself continually revisiting and reliving our own childhood. As educators, we teach children how to care for themselves, explore the world around them, and express their creativity. At the same time, we reflect on our own values and continue to learn.
Through the clear eyes and pure hearts of children, we often think we are the ones giving, but in truth, we are the ones receiving. That, to me, is the most captivating part of this work.
…..
My name is Elisa and this is my first year at ISSH, supporting the Blue Marmots.
For as long as I can remember I have always interacted with children of different ages. During my teenage years, I taught several children at a summer camp and babysat, and after graduating I was an assistant at an international school.
With the children I have met along the way, I have shared playtime, created artwork and numerous stories. I have always admired their ability to feel fascination for the simplest things in life, their spontaneity and imagination.
Working with children is what I want to do with my life, which without them would be too boring. They have always taught me new ways of seeing the world, and every child I have met has left an indelible mak on my memory.
I am thrilled to be working at ISSH in what I am sure will be a new and exciting chapter in my life.
……
My name is Julien, last year I attended an Arts school, where I had the chance to express my creativity and explore my personal development. Before that, I started an apprenticeship as a travel agent and I realised over time that my interests lie more in creative and social fields.
What I love about working with children is their imagination and the unique way they view the world. I especially look forward to doing creative projects together: painting, crafting and discovering new ideas. It truly makes me happy to bring a smile to their faces and share joyful moments with them.
After having spent a few trial days at ISSH, I knew that this was the right school for me and I’m looking forward to the time ahead and to growing through the experience.
Primary
My name is Giulietta Garau. I’ve been teaching and leading in international schools for over 20 years, and am very happy to be at ISSH! I’m a British-South African-Italian and spent most of my childhood between South Africa, England, and Italy—a true third-culture child! I am also a proud mum to my daughter, Daniella, who is 20 years old, and just beginning her university journey. Over the years, I have had the privilege of traveling extensively, with my last stop being
Malta before settling here in Switzerland. Here in Schaffhausen, I’m already enjoying exploring the city and getting to know my community. Thank you for the warm welcome.
…..
My name is Ms. Carla, and I am delighted to join ISSH as the Grade 5 teacher. I come from Catalonia, Spain, and moved to Switzerland last November with my partner, Pau. I speak Catalan, Spanish, and English, intermediate Italian, and I’m also learning German. I love being part of multilingual communities and look forward to learning from your families and cultures.
My teaching is rooted in an inquiry-based, Reggio Emilia-inspired approach that values student questions, curiosity, and voice. I hold degrees in Early Childhood and Primary Education, as well as a Master’s in Designing Learning Spaces. Outside school, I enjoy the outdoors, cinema, and searching second-hand markets for cozy treasures.
….
My name is Linda, and I’m Swiss-German. I grew up in and around Schaffhausen and feel a special connection to ISSH, having once been a student here myself. Returning now as a teacher feels a bit like coming home! My studies took me to the Netherlands, where I trained to become a teacher and discovered how much I enjoy exploring new places and cultures. That love of travel has shaped my path ever since and I’ve been fortunate to teach in different countries, with each experience giving me fresh perspectives and lasting memories.
What I treasure most about teaching is the chance to share in children’s curiosity and help them grow, while also continuing to learn from them every day. For me, education has always been about connection, between people, cultures, and ideas. I’m excited to bring those experiences into the classroom here at ISSH.
Secondary
Hi! My name is Javier Ruiz Gómez, and I am the History teacher in secondary school as well as English Language and Literature teacher in Grade 7. Spanish by birth and international by choice, I joined ISSH after four years of teaching in Turin, where I developed my teaching skills, explored new methodologies and, of course, learned Italian.
Prior to Italy, I began my professional career as a newly qualified teacher near my hometown of Olite, in Pamplona, where I had my first experience with the International Baccalaureate. I consider myself partly Irish, having spent seven years in Galway completing the end of secondary education and five pursuing higher education.
As a passionate student of history and literature, I love spending hours in museums, exploring places and adding books to my never-ending reading list. I am very excited to be part of the ISSH community and to have the opportunity to learn German in situ. Piacere y un saludo.
……..
My name is Marc Mühlich. I am 51 years old, married, and the proud father of two children. After spending the past two years teaching at a German-medium school in Cairo, I am truly excited to begin this new chapter at ISSH — a place where I already feel both comfortable and at home. With over 16 years of teaching experience across four countries on three continents, I look forward to sharing my knowledge, diverse experiences, and international perspective with our students and contributing to the vibrant, multicultural community here
We’re delighted to welcome them and look forward to the many ways they will enrich life at ISSH.
