Dear Community,
Every so often, a school should pause to ask itself some important questions. Who are we? What do we stand for? What unites us as a community? This past year, we set out to explore these questions together.
We did not do this alone. We listened to the views of people from across our community: students, parents, staff and the board. One message rang out clearly in every session: the warmth of our community is at the ❤️ of who we are. Our Primary and Secondary Student Councils joined us on this journey and reminded us that what makes our school unique is not just what we teach, but how deeply we care for one another.
As we listened, our students challenged us in the best possible way. They asked us to embody our values and ensure that our actions reflect our words. This spirit of curiosity and courage, with our students pushing us to think harder, is exactly what we hope to inspire in them.
From these conversations, we shaped a new mission statement that is shorter, clearer, and centered on what matters most: the human experience.
Our New Mission Statement
We welcome you into a community rooted in compassion, curiosity, and courage. Grounded in a dynamic international curriculum, we empower you to discover your voice and contribute meaningfully to the world.
This is more than just a statement on paper. It reflects who we are and our beliefs about education.
- Curiosity speaks to the mind. It is the joy of exploration, of asking questions and of discovering how the world works.
- Compassion speaks to the heart. It is empathy, kindness and understanding others.
- Courage speaks to action. It means being brave, taking risks and standing up for what is right.
The second part of our mission, ‘Grounded in a dynamic international curriculum’, is about preparing students for a rapidly changing world. Our dynamic curriculum responds to global developments, from artificial intelligence to sustainability. Learning does not stop at the classroom door, but continues through partnerships with businesses, academic trips and real-world experiences.
Our parents often tell us that, besides our strong community, one of our greatest strengths is our ability to teach children how to learn. This equips them for a lifetime of growth, no matter where their journey takes them. The MUN club is just one example of how this mission is realised. In MUN, students learn to research global issues, listen compassionately and speak courageously, skills that will help them to become knowledgeable, empathetic and confident in standing up for themselves and others.
This mission isn’t just a set of words. It’s a living vision that we will carry forward together every day.
Together, we are a community that learns with curiosity, leads with courage, and cares with compassion.
Warmly,
Ebru Güver
Head of School
