Little Gardeners in Action: Growing and Learning at ISSH

This spring, as part of our Earth Month celebrations, our youngest learners from ELC and Grade 1 have been getting their hands dirty in the best way possible! With trowels in hand and plenty of enthusiasm, they’ve taken on the exciting challenge of creating their very own garden on the school grounds.

The project began with an important first step: clearing out weeds to make room for new life. Once the space was ready, students carefully planted seeds, learning about soil, sunlight, and water along the way. Adding to the collaborative spirit, Grade 4 students teamed up with their Grade 1 buddies to help with planting and maintenance.

This hands-on experience not only connects to their classroom learning but also ties into our commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship during Earth Month. It offers a meaningful and practical way for students to take action, fostering a deeper understanding of how they can care for the planet. The garden has become a living classroom, one that encourages curiosity, responsibility, and teamwork. As the plants grow, so too do the students’ understanding and pride in what they’ve accomplished. We can’t wait to see the results of their hard work bloom!
