The student council is a team of students, who help make school life more exciting and meaningful. They bring student ideas and concerns to teachers and school leaders, while also planning fun events like spirit weeks, dances, fundraisers, and community projects. It’s all about building school spirit, strengthening our community, and making sure every student has a voice.
The Secondary Student Council is starting the school year with enthusiasm and ambitious plans. From dances and themed weeks to treats and scavenger hunts, there are activities designed for every student to enjoy.
The first major event on the calendar is the Homecoming Dance on September 19th with a Wild West theme. Students can look forward to music, games, snacks, and plenty of cowboy spirit, an opportunity for all secondary students to come together, celebrate, and create lasting memories.
And that’s just the beginning. Over the course of the year, students can participate in a variety of favourites: Spirit Week, the December Candy-Gram Sale, the Valentine’s Day Love Attack, and a lively St. Patrick’s Day Scavenger Hunt. By popular demand, the much-loved Friendsgiving Potluck is also expected to return, bringing everyone together to share good food and fellowship.
This year brings exciting news: for the first time, the Student Council will host two dances, the Homecoming in September and a Spring Ball in March.
The goal is simple: to nurture the spirit of ISSH, to create moments of joy amidst the busy school year, and to provide students with opportunities to celebrate, connect, and enjoy themselves. With so many events planned, this promises to be a memorable school year for all.
Together, we create.
