The Pre-DP-Year prepares for the challenges of the Diploma

The grade 10 of the Middle School is the ideal preparation to be ready for the Diploma Programme. Core subjects like Mathematics, English Language and Literature, German Aquisition build the basis of the timetable. Furthermore a choice of pre-DP electives will complement the individual programme. Choices are Biology, Physics and Chemistry, Laboratory Investigation Skills and Writing Skills, Geography, History, Economics as well as the Arts. 

One year individually customised

DP preparation year

The year of further education with a focus on secondary school and higher education focuses on academic subjects. Gaps in languages and mathematics can be closed. The Science knowledge and skills are strengthened. In addition, general knowledge is consolidated and expanded. Additional support in English and German complement the programme. Good results in the DP preparation year will entitle you to transfer to the DP programme without an entrance exam.

Additional English Support

Additional and individualized support ito strengthen the English language communication and writing skills are of essential importance for students who transfer to an English Medium Environment. The mastery of English is a pre-requisite for a successful completion of the DP programme. 

Additional German Support

The IB mandates that students choose two languages in their DP subject choices. Students can choose the German ab initio course, which is a beginner course. 

However, if the plan is to study in Germany or Switzerland, the level of German is of utmost importance. 

Students can, at additonal cost, book an intense German programme, so that their level of German can be brought up to be eventually at the necessary level for university studies in a German-speaking country.
