Charity fun run – student voice

In this post, one of our Grade 12 explains which charity was chosen, and why they organised a fun run to raise money.

First, can you tell us about the charity that you and the Diploma students chose, and why you chose this particular aspect?

Sure, we were offered around 4 or 5 focused topics, and we ended up choosing Lesotho, where poverty and unemployment were big concerns. We actually hoped that we could support all of them. It would be better if we could do the best on only one concentration, so we voted preferably and picked the highest one.

How are you going to connect with people in Lesotho?

We made a video and exchanged with Lesotho. The video has introductions and meaningful messages from all our participants.

Why did you choose to organise a fun run?

Fun Run has been an annual event in ISSH, so people were already familiar with it. Hence, we believe that this combination of Fun Run and Fundraiser would gain the biggest impact as well as attract the most people to join us.

What did you include in the fun run and why?

We included the meaning of this event so that all participants will be aware of their contribution toward the charity. We wanted everybody to express their empathy, care, and kindness to people who were less fortunate.

What did you enjoy the most about this event?

I think not only I but also my classmates enjoyed the process the most. We had a long time planning, making videos, and organizing everything together. We faced so many challenges, but at the end of the day, we were super proud of the result. We will graduate soon, so this event remarks our dedication to our school as well as brings unforgettable memories for each of us.

The event was fun and sporty, and of course, there were lessons learned about planning and organizing an event on this scale but most importantly, DP students raised over 2,900.00 CHF to help their friends in Lesotho. Thank you ISSH community and good work DP CAS students!
