Meet Allie and Filipa, our student ambassadors. They represent the students in the Secondary school, but also ISSH itself at in-school and offsite events. They need to be responsible, reliable, enthusiastic and committed. Here they share their aspirations for the future and their inspirations.
What subjects are you studying in DP?
Allie: Biology, German, English, Geography, Math, Econ
Filipa: French B HL, History HL, English B HL, Math Applications SL, Biology SL, German A SL
Are you planning to go to university? If so, what to study?
Allie: Yes, my plan is to study social sciences like psychology, sociology and criminology in Ireland.
Filipa: Yes, after finishing the DP, I want to go to the university for law and political science in Porto, Portugal.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
Allie: I see myself travelling as much as I can, experiencing many different cultures and absorbing the natural surrounding beauty. I am currently unsure on a specific job I would like, however I imagine my ideal job will be working with and helping people in an attempt to understand them.
Filipa: In 10 years, I hope to have completed my studies in law or political science and therefore to have acquired as much skills and knowledge as possible. Hopefully, I will be working as a lawyer in the Portuguese Army or as the European Union representative of Portugal and contributing to a fairer justice system, while also being actively involved in solidarity causes to help disadvantaged children and families in my country. By having such job I would be able to contribute to a fairer justice system not only on a local but also on national level.
Who inspired you and why?
Allie: My family has deeply inspired me as they have all pursued different and interesting career paths. These various different careers have motivated, and continue to motivate me to search for something that interests me, even if it’s not the first career I come across.
Filipa: There are many people that inspired me, but I would say that the one that inspired me the most so far is my grandmother and my mother, seeing as they are both very determined, courageous, caring and have a big heart.
