We are the Mann Family and have lived near Schaffhausen for 6 years. One of the things that we love about living here are all of the opportunities that we have to be outside and active.

I Sarah decided to join the Schaffhausen Kanu club two years ago after taking a beginners class advertised in the Summer Kids Program. Straight away, I found the club fun and welcoming. I enjoyed the indoor winter training as I got to know everyone better. Last year I decided that I wanted to be in the competitive training group, and the coaches supported me all the way to my goal! Now I am working towards the regional team and love making connections outside of my English speaking school friends. 

I James love all sports and here in Switzerland and I have so many opportunities to get involved with teams and competitions. I play soccer, recently changing from my local village team to the Spielv Soccer Club. Also, for the past two years I have been a member of the TriStar triathlon club, and ran with my team in the national finals. I love the opportunity to run, bike and swim. I am also participating in the regional running cup and won the Schaffhausen Sport Talent of the year 2022 award, completing a speed skate, track sprint and swim race! Another great thing is that in the holidays there are many sports camps. Last Spring I participated in a mountain bike camp, and it was so fun. I have learned to enjoy more sports through the activities and opportunities that I have had in Switzerland!

Recently having seen how friendly and welcoming the Kanu club is, I Jonny, have joined! It is a great activity to add the activities that I do to complete the IB diploma requirements (CAS). It’s also a great way to be outdoors, meet new people and enjoy learning a new sport.
