SPOTLIGHT 4th Edition

ISCC and ELC

In December the ISCC and ELC have been busy with seasonal activities related to winter and Christmas. First, Samichlaus visited at the start of December bringing joy to all children. All children returned very proudly from a short trip to the forest where they met Samichlaus, Schmutzli and their friend the donkey.

As part of the thinking around celebrations and showing gratitude, the Bears ELC group decided to throw a party for the Grade 3s (their Buddies group) to show their gratitude for the mentoring they’ve received this year. They wanted to spread joy and kindness and they did this by planning the event; making decorations, baking and hosting the party. They put in a lot of effort to spread joy to their friends and we ended the party with a game of pass the parcel. The Foxes were busy with their artwork for the art exhibition and also focused on seasonal activities. This week, they created letters for their parents, manipulating different crafting materials and exploring their creativityThe ISCC children have also been busy preparing their Christmas presents for their parents and put a lot of effort into it.

The younger children in the ELC were happy to have discos in the evenings to finish off their busy days. They have all been gathering in the green room to dance and sing before being picked up.

Primary

December rolled in fast, bringing abundant snow and thrilling activities for our students. Samichlaus marked the beginning of the festive season for our Primary students, creating delightful moments with the assistance of our dedicated PA parents. Meanwhile, our Grade 5 students embarked on an adventure to the slopes of the Swiss Alps in Crans Montana, revelling in a week filled with camaraderie, enjoyment, and valuable growing experiences. As a final prelude to the winter holidays, our grade 3 students provided us with a last-minute shopping opportunity at the Grade 3 Market event.

Wishing everyone a wonderful winter holiday season, and looking forward to seeing you all in 2024!

Middle School

Can you remember what it was like in Middle School when we were younger? Whether you were the obedient and studious type or a bit more defiant, we all had subjects to attend to, homework to submit, and deadlines to respect, right? Well, our Middle School students have a bit more up their sleeves. In the past few weeks alone, they have had field trips, a Remembrance assembly, a Friendsgiving lunch, and a successful student-led House event (Jungfrau is still in the lead!). They are now preparing for the last week of school with cosy sweaters & PJs and candy-card exchanges, with some hot chocolate while they finish off their last assessments for 2023.

Our students have so much exposure to social experiences and friendly competition; embedded within a well-balanced educational exposure to both practical and cerebral academic approaches, from Design and PE to Languages and Sciences. Their basic foundations of knowledge allow them to acquire so much more than what education had to offer 30 years ago. Watching their leadership skills and critical thinking develop is exciting, preparing them for future career readiness and real-world problems.

As we continue to enhance their experiences so they may slowly discover their many skills and talents, we also wish them all a well-deserved break so they may reboot their energy loads and get ready for 2024’s new adventures and discoveries. Have a relaxing break, everyone!

High School

It’s hard to believe that the first term for DP1 students is already moving towards its finish line. The DP1 students now have a fully rounded idea of the demands of the DP Programme and are moving towards their first mid-term examinations. Besides the rigour of studying there were some inspiring moments for all students; dressing in Christmas sweaters, Secret Santa in the homerooms and the Secondary house event.

For DP2 students, the grand finale is about to commence. Students are receiving their final DP reports before the winter break and then are going to be busy preparing for their final exams, which will begin in April. We wish all of our students a relaxing break and will see them in the new year, ready to unlock their potential.
