Early Years Centre

Sensory development lays the foundation for a child’s learning as they make sense of the world around them by using their senses. Incorporating sensory activities in our daily learning will help our children cope with changes in their environment and adapt to real-life situations. We began to explore the changing season using a variety of activities. Your child continues to develop a wide range of skills in kindergarten, including physical, social, emotional, language and literacy, and thinking skills which are all trained and supported by our wide range of sensory activities.

Primary

The first quarter of this school year has been a busy one. First aid courses, bike training, cross country competition, field trips, parent workshops, teachers PD day and a fun run! Our students and teachers have been involved in activities that support their whole development, outside of a classroom setting. Looking ahead, we have our parent- teacher meetings on October 25 which will offer us the opportunity to discuss your child’s strengths and areas in need of improvement, and of course our Halloween Disco Party on October 31!

Middle School

Students in Middle School have been very busy setting up the new school year in September. Between visiting the Berufsmesse and the BIZ in Schaffhausen, as well as the Clean Up and ISSH Charity Run Day, paired with grade-level team-building activities and student-led House planning, it is hard to believe they found the time to attend to their regular out-of-school hobbies and academic responsibilities! Seeing how motivated the students are and how brilliantly they work together is amazing. They say: “Education is the most powerful weapon you can use to change the world” and with such inspiring students in middle school at ISSH, I am pleased to write that our futures seem to be headed in the right direction! Well done, everyone.

High School

The students participated in CORE week where they explored the different aspects of the programme: Theory of Knowledge (TOK), Creativity, Activity and Service (CAS) and Extended Essay (EE). They took part in a guided night tour of Freiburg and a trip to Europa Park where they had to count their steps for the day. They put their artistry to the test by sketching in the town of Freiburg and visited the university where they learned about its history and the courses it provides currently.
