Upholding highest standards of teaching and learning

As an authorised IB World School, ISSH is proud to offer the internationally renowned International Baccalaureate (IB) Programme. This curriculum goes beyond academics to shape curious, confident and globally minded learners. We offer two IB programmes that guide students through key stages of their educational journey: The Primary Years Programme (PYP), which builds strong foundations in inquiry, creativity, and compassion for our youngest learners.  The Diploma Programme (DP), which prepares students for university and beyond by fostering academic rigour, independence, and critical thinking. These programmes are designed to develop students not only intellectually, but also personally, socially, and emotionally, equipping them with the skills and mindset to thrive as responsible global citizens in an ever-changing world. ISSH is proud to be accredited by the Middle States Association (MSA), which reflects our commitment to providing a high-quality, internationally recognised education. Through this accreditation, we are able to offer both the IB Diploma Programme (IBDP) and a standard High School Diploma, providing students with multiple pathways to university. These dual qualifications open doors to a wide range of post-secondary options, increasing access to universities and colleges around the world. In particular, the High School Diploma provides valuable flexibility, especially for students pursuing Applied Sciences or other specialised programmes in the United States or Europe, where it meets many standard entry requirements. At ISSH, we are committed to preparing students for academic success and global opportunities beyond graduation. Find out more about MSA
In addition to our accreditations, ISSH is proud to be a member of several prestigious international organisations. These memberships reinforce our commitment to providing an exceptional and globally minded education. They allow us to stay connected with global educational trends, collaborate with like-minded institutions, and further enrich our learning environment, ensuring that our students benefit from a dynamic and forward-thinking educational experience.
Since 2018, ISSH has proudly been a Naturpark school, receiving support to run activities that celebrate the environment and culture of the Schaffhausen Naturpark community. Twice a year, teachers come together to report on the projects funded by Naturpark and to take part in expert-led workshops on topics ranging from Celtic culture to local wildlife and outdoor learning strategies. Our students have been actively involved in a variety of hands-on projects that bring these lessons to life. They’ve visited a beekeeper and built bee houses, tested Rhein water for microplastics with Agua Viva, and participated in invasive plant removal with ProNatura. DP students conducted interviews with WWII Schaffhausen bombing survivors and shared their findings with the Schaffhausen Museum. They’ve built and maintained the Lebensturm (life tower), taken part in the Schaffhausen Nature Film contest, and explored the city through cultural tours. PYP students also led assemblies to share what they’ve learned about Naturpark with the school community. Through these experiences, our students not only develop practical environmental skills but also a deeper appreciation for their local culture, community, and the importance of sustainability.
