We are looking forward to welcoming you into the heart of our boarding family.
To feel at home, even far from home That’s the atmosphere I work to create in our boarding house. Originally from Taiwan, I’ve spent over a decade teaching in Switzerland and hold a Bachelor Degree in Education. I bring warmth, care, and structure to our boarding environment. My aim is to support students as they grow, personally, academically, and socially. I truly value working in diverse, multicultural communities where students don’t just learn from us — they learn from one another. I am fluent in Mandarin Chinese, English, and German, and hold a certificate in teaching Chinese as a second language. Sharing my heritage through language, calligraphy, and cooking brings me great joy. And I also love learning about my students’ backgrounds and traditions. To me, a boarding house is more than a place to stay — it’s a shared space where respect, kindness, and gentle discipline help build character and foster cultural awareness. In my free time, I enjoy swimming, reading, and traveling — experiences that continue to shape my open and curious outlook on life.
Creating a warm, homelike environment where students feel comfortable, safe, and understood This is at the heart of my approach to boarding. Originally from Finland, I bring my background as a healthcare professional and social worker to our boarding community, driven by a genuine desire to support and nurture young people. I am committed to recognising each student's individual strengths and passions whilst giving them space to grow academically, socially, and personally. Having lived in Switzerland for many years with my four wonderful children and our two orange cats, I understand the importance of creating that sense of home away from home. I am fluent in Finnish, English, German, and Italian, which helps me connect with our diverse student body. What drives me each day is genuine curiosity about our students — learning about their interests, families, cultures, and traditions. I believe that when boarding families place their trust in us, we have a responsibility to provide the very best care, ensuring parents feel confident about their children's wellbeing. Working as part of the ISSH boarding programme isn't simply a job — it's a calling. The genuine interactions I have with our boarders and watching them flourish in our community is what makes every day incredibly rewarding.
Since 2013, I have been a member of the ISSH community as both a member of the pedagogical team, and as a ISSH parent. I've witnessed firsthand how our nurturing environment helps students achieve their potential. Two of my three children are ISSH graduates, giving me unique insight into our community from both perspectives. Originally from Finland, married to a Frenchman, and raising our family here in Switzerland, I understand the richness of multicultural living. I am fluent in Finnish, English, and French, and continue improving my German daily. My professional qualifications in the culinary arts and kitchen management and I'm especially passionate about sharing the importance of healthy eating, and teaching basic cooking skills. and I enjoy teaching our boarding students basic cooking skills. For me, food is a way to nurture, connect and support independence – something I try to bring into all my interactions in the boarding house. Being a parent myself deepens my understanding of young people's needs, particularly those living away from home. I strive to offer warmth, structure, and support, creating an environment where students feel safe, understood, and valued. The cultural diversity at ISSH feels like travelling without leaving Switzerland — every day brings new perspectives as I learn from our students just as much as they learn from me. In my free time, I enjoy reading, fishing in Finland's lakes, and skiing in the Swiss mountains — pursuits that reflect my love for nature and the outdoors that I often share with our boarding community.
As a parent to young adults myself, I know firsthand the importance of empathy, understanding, and structure during the adolescent years. Each day I approach my role as carer with intention, focusing on providing a supportive structure in which our students can develop their personal skills, while offering mentorship and guidance as they grow as individuals. For me, empathy and understanding are essential. I enjoy getting to know our students, celebrating their successes and listening to their troubles. Creating a culture of healthy communication and a sense of belonging is a priority for me. I like to use humour to create a positive, welcoming environment, and I’ve found that it is a great tool for managing tricky situations!
Originally from Peru, I have spent most of my adult life living in many different countries around the world. My travels and international experience have shaped my work with the ISSH boarding team, where our diverse community of students and staff makes every day a wonderful learning adventure. What motivates me each day is being part of our students' growth journey — watching them evolve into young men and women armed with skills to navigate daily life and the confidence to follow their dreams. Whether it's celebrating milestones, sharing stories, offering advice, or providing a listening ear, I believe in giving each student caring, individual attention. I believe that small gestures can make a big difference – baking a birthday cake, cooking a favourite meal, or simply sitting in quiet support when needed — this philosophy guides my approach to boarding life. I focus on students' overall development and wellbeing, believing that warm, friendly, and respectful interactions help young people develop into confident, considerate, and responsible adults. Through these meaningful connections and small acts of kindness, I aim to help our boarders not only feel at home but flourish as they discover their own paths forward.
